Al Gore In Toronto Today To Speak At Convention About Global Climate Change

Al Gore is in Toronto today to present his Academy Award-winning documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth" at the Green Living Show. This is the first show in the world to discuss and display consumer products that make a greener planet (i.e. 'Green Cars').



Gore has been criticizing the Canadian Government for backing out of the Kyoto Protocol, blasting the new initiative that was announced one day earlier by Environment Minister John Baird.

Gore has received lots of support, especially in Hollywood.
For example, stars like Leonardo Dicaprio have been standing by his side since the debut of Gore's, "An Inconvenient Truth".
Here they are at the premiere:



Remember, we are all we have & we must take care of each other to keep this planet going!
Please do all you can to make this planet cleaner.
Things you can do include:
1) Buy hybrid cars
2) Use energy efficient lighting
3) Use energy efficient dish washers
4) Use energy efficient laundry machines/dryers
5) Turn off water that is being unecessarily used etc...

Overall, there are many things we can do as citizens to make this planet a greener place...

According to close sources, there is a SERIOUS RUMOUR circulating around CTV GLOBEMEDIA that Ben Mulroney, the host of e-Talk & Canadian Idol, will be leaving the Network!

Sources say, Mulroney will be leaving because he wishes to pursue a career in politics and lead by his father's example!
It is also believed that Mulroney will be running in the same riding as Justin Trudeau!
Problem is, Mulroney is a Conservative & Trudeau is a Liberal!



This would mean that CTV will be looking for a new host of Canada's #1 Entertainment Show: eTalk Daily.
It also means that CTV might have to look for a new host of Canadian Idol, since Mulroney will have to focus on politics.

This is great for Canadian politics if it happens because it might intice the younger generation to get involved!
This is something the Canadian Government has been trying to do for years!
(To get the young people involed)

It's also unfortunate that Mulroney & Trudeau will be running in the same area (Montreal), which means only one of them will be elected.

This is a great thing for Canadian politics (if it happens)...
I just wish they could both win.

Plus I wouldn't mind getting some other talent for eTalk (someone fresh) for a change...

Jonathan Rhys Meyers Checks Into REHAB!

You heard right!
Golden Globe winner, Jonathan Rhys Meyers checked into rehab today!
His publicist Meredith O'Sullivan said that his alcohol abuse was getting to a destructive point.
She also said, "He felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery. Jonathan plans to resume his schedule (filming of movies & Showtime Network show "The Tudors") following completion."

Alec Baldwin Feels Bad For Yelling At His Daughter: Baldwin Want's To Leave '30 Rock' To Dedicate More Time To His Daughter

Not only does he verbally abuse his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland (YES, she's named after the country!) but Alec Baldwin now wants to leave '30 Rock' to dedicate more time to parenting.

WELL GOOD DECISION OLD MAN...LOL.

"If I never acted again I couldn't care less,'' Baldwin said in a pre-taped appearance for ABC's "The View,'' scheduled to air this Friday.

Damit! I guess this means we should expect more movies from him then...Damn! LOL.

Baldwin, in a transcript provided by "The View,'' also said he wants to quit "30 Rock'' so the sitcom and the hundreds who work on it won't "be hurt by the situation.''

Not only is she the most outspoken television host in daytime but, Rosie O'Donnell, (A.K.A. 'Crazy Rose'), is the most outspoken lesbian in 'Hollywood'...

The most recent example of Rosie being 'crazy' was on Monday.
When Rosie showed up at the annual New York Women in Communication awards luncheon.
She was caught blasting bad language and attacking Rupert Murdoch.
Sources also say she was acting like a 'truck driver'!
That's INTENSE ROSIE!!!

"This is a celebration of women who changed the world, and no one understands why Rupert Murdoch is on the dais," she said, adding, "I mean that in the kind, loving Post-like way, sir; it's delightful to see you in person."

Even Barbara Walter's said she disagreed with her comments about Murdoch.
Jeeze Rosie, maybe if you can't get the most 'soft-spoken' host in television to side with you...you might just want to back off some of your views????

"I would like to point out that Rosie's view is not always mine," Walters said.
"I would like to say for the record that I am very fond of Rupert Murdoch."

Of Course Donald Trump quickly went on Fox News Channel (owned by Rupert Murdoch) Today to say O'Donnell was "turfed" (A.K.A. fired) by ABC because of those very remarks made at the Women in Communications luncheon.

"Barbara's the happiest person in the world that Rosie's been fired," Trump said.

Yes it's TRUE, Rosie O'Donnell, co-host of "The View," will be leaving the show in June, she announced today.

O'Donnell, said that the reason for her departure is due to her contract with ABC. ABC wanted her to sign on for three years while she only wanted to stay for another year.
I think it's cause she's CRAZY! HAHAa

Walters also stated that she played no role in the contract talks.

"This was between your representatives and ABC Daytime, this is not my doing or my choice," she said.

I don't think anyone is 'sad' about this...includding me!
So far there is no replacement for Rosie...Jeeze...I think it should be a GUY...Then lets see the different types of "Views" eh!?

***Cindi Berger, a spokeswoman for both "The View" co-hosts, denied Trump's claim, wondering how he would know what had happened in contract talks. I must say though...I do too...But also...Trump is quite powerful in New York...& I think he could probably find out anything if he wanted to...

"She wasn't going to commit to anything for three years and they would not commit to her for one more," Berger said.

News of O'Donnell's exit came as the lobby group Focus on the Family prepared to contact advertisers on "The View." The group intends to launch a campaign after O'Donnell made comments they found offensive to Catholics.

According to the Associated Press, ratings for "The View" during February sweeps were up 15% in key female demographics over the same time in 2006.

"Buying The War": Why Did We Believe The Propaganda On The Iraq War?

How the administration marketed the war to the American people has been well covered, but critical questions remain: How and why did the press buy it, and what does it say about the role of journalists in helping the public sort out fact from propaganda?

Four years ago on May 1, President Bush landed on the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln wearing a flight suit and delivered a speech in front of a giant "Mission Accomplished" banner. He was hailed by media stars as a "breathtaking" example of presidential leadership in toppling Saddam Hussein. Despite profound questions over the failure to locate weapons of mass destruction and the increasing violence in Baghdad, many in the press confirmed the White House's claim that the war was won. MSNBC's Chris Matthews declared, "We're all neo-cons now;" NPR's Bob Edwards said, "The war in Iraq is essentially over;" and Fortune magazine's Jeff Birnbaum said, "It is amazing how thorough the victory in Iraq really was in the broadest context."


How did the mainstream press get it so wrong? How did the evidence disputing the existence of weapons of mass destruction and the link between Saddam Hussein to 9-11 continue to go largely unreported? "What the conservative media did was easy to fathom; they had been cheerleaders for the White House from the beginning and were simply continuing to rally the public behind the President — no questions asked. How mainstream journalists suspended skepticism and scrutiny remains an issue of significance that the media has not satisfactorily explored," says Moyers. "How the administration marketed the war to the American people has been well covered, but critical questions remain: How and why did the press buy it, and what does it say about the role of journalists in helping the public sort out fact from propaganda?"

On Wednesday, April 25 at 9 p.m. on PBS, a new PBS series BILL MOYERS JOURNAL premieres at a special time with "Buying the War," a 90-minute documentary that explores the role of the press in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq. Two days later on April 27, BILL MOYERS JOURNAL airs in its regular timeslot on Fridays at 9 p.m. with interviews and news analysis on a wide range of subjects, including politics, arts and culture, the media, the economy, and issues facing democracy. "Buying the War" includes interviews with Dan Rather, formerly of CBS; Tim Russert of MEET THE PRESS; Bob Simon of 60 MINUTES; Walter Isaacson, former president of CNN; and John Walcott, Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel of Knight Ridder newspapers, which was acquired by The McClatchy Company in 2006.

In "Buying the War" Bill Moyers and producer Kathleen Hughes document the reporting of Walcott, Landay and Strobel, the Knight Ridder team that burrowed deep into the intelligence agencies to try and determine whether there was any evidence for the Bush Administration's case for war. "Many of the things that were said about Iraq didn't make sense," says Walcott. "And that really prompts you to ask, 'Wait a minute. Is this true? Does everyone agree that this is true? Does anyone think this is not true?'"

In the run-up to war, skepticism was a rarity among journalists inside the Beltway. Journalist Bob Simon of 60 Minutes, who was based in the Middle East, questioned the reporting he was seeing and reading. "I mean we knew things or suspected things that perhaps the Washington press corps could not suspect. For example, the absurdity of putting up a connection between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda," he tells Moyers. "Saddam…was a total control freak. To introduce a wild card like Al Qaeda in any sense was just something he would not do. So I just didn't believe it for an instant." The program analyzes the stream of unchecked information from administration sources and Iraqi defectors to the mainstream print and broadcast press, which was then seized upon and amplified by an army of pundits. While almost all the claims would eventually prove to be false, the drumbeat of misinformation about WMDs went virtually unchallenged by the media. THE NEW YORK TIMES reported on Iraq's "worldwide hunt for materials to make an atomic bomb," but according to Landay, claims by the administration about the possibility of nuclear weapons were highly questionable. Yet, his story citing the "lack of hard evidence of Iraqi weapons" got little play. In fact, throughout the media landscape, stories challenging the official view were often pushed aside while the administration's claims were given prominence. "From August 2002 until the war was launched in March of 2003 there were about 140 front page pieces in THE WASHINGTON POST making the administration's case for war," says Howard Kurtz, the POST's media critic. "But there was only a handful of stories that ran on the front page that made the opposite case. Or, if not making the opposite case, raised questions."

"Buying the War" examines the press coverage in the lead-up to the war as evidence of a paradigm shift in the role of journalists in democracy and asks, four years after the invasion, what's changed? "More and more the media become, I think, common carriers of administration statements and critics of the administration," says THE WASHINGTON POST's Walter Pincus. "We've sort of given up being independent on our own."

More Scandal With 'Scary Spice'

As if the 'Scary Spice' couldn't get herself in more 'DRAMA', Melanie Brown has given her baby daughter the surname of ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy.

Mel B, 31, popped out the 'wee one' on April 3 in Santa Monica, Calif.
She listed Murphy's name on the birth certificate.
CONTROVERSIAL!!! Since Eddie, A.K.A. "Donkey" from Shrek, is not 100% sure he's the father!

'Psycho Scary' listed her baby's name as, "Angel Iris Murphy Brown" on the birth certificate.

"Angel, as she was my little angel through my pregnancy. Iris, as it's my grandma's name, Murphy because he's the dad, and Brown, because I'm the Mum!" the statement said.

Murphy, 46, has said he's not sure he's the father.

"Dreamgirls" man, Eddie Murphy, also has five children from his marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy.

The movie release is set for August 1st.
Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, the movie received negative reviews.

Honestly...If you haven't seen this video yet...it's possibly the worst video she's done by far!
She bashes other celebs and singers for being tacky and falling into trends...but she's falling in to them too.
Can't stand this girl!...And this is possibly the most annoying song I've ever heard.
I purposely sing it in a screaming voice around my roomate cause I know it pisses him off (he thinks it's funny by the way...lol).

UPDATE: Virginia Tech Shootings | Cho Sends Video Blogs & 'Manifesto' To NBC NEWS Just 2-Hours After First Shooting|

According to sources, The Virginia Tech gunman sent video blogs, writings and photographs to NBC News in the middle of his shooting spree, authorities claim today.



Cho Seung-Hui, the shooter at VT Tech, sent the material to NBC News after murdering two students at 7:15a.m. Monday morning, but before he fatally shot another 30 people in a classroom building and turned a gun on himself.



"You had a hundred billion chances and ways to avoid today," Cho says in one of the video blogs.
"But you decided to spill my blood. You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option," said Cho.

He also mentioned Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the students responsible for the Columbine High School massacre (1999), referring to them as "martyrs."

NBC News stated that they didn't receive Cho's material until early this morning due to an incorrect mailing address.
After affiliates at NBC realized the contents of the package, they handed the material over to investigators.
The envelope is time-stamped 9:01 a.m. ET Monday. Therefore it was sent some time between the first & second shootings.

Sources say, it's unclear when Cho began working on the material, and how much.
In some of the videos he seems to refer to his rampage in the past tense. Therefore sources claim he knew for sure he was going to go through with things. It might also mean that Cho is for sure the one responsible for the first shooting.



Steve Flaherty, a superintendent of Virginia State Police, told reporters, "This may be a very new, critical component of this investigation. We're in the process right now of attempting to analyze and evalute its worth."

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams called the material "disturbing" and a "multimedia manifesto."
NBC News also told the press today that the package contains 27 video files of Cho describing his hatred towards the wealthy, and images of him holding weapons. (Some of the pictures you see in this blog...sent to NBC News)



The vides were embedded into the paragraphs of a large 1,800-word document, suggesting Cho had put a great deal of work into the 'manifesto'.




CHO, also goes on to say:

• "You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul and torched my conscience. You thought it was one pathetic boy’s life you were extinguishing. Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and the defenseless people."

• "Do you know what it feels to be spit on your face and to have trash shoved down your throat? Do you know what it feels like to dig your own grave?
Do you know what it feels like to have throat slashed from ear to ear? Do you know what it feels like to be torched alive?
Do you know what it feels like to be humiliated and be impaled upon on a cross? And left to bleed to death for your amusement? You have never felt a single ounce of pain your whole life. Did you want to inject as much misery in our lives as you can just because you can?"

• "You had everything you wanted. Your Mercedes wasn’t enough, you brats. Your golden necklaces weren’t enough, you snobs. Your trust fund wasn’t enough. Your vodka and Cognac weren’t enough. All your debaucheries weren’t enough. Those weren’t enough to fulfill your hedonistic needs. You had everything."

IMPORTANT:
What we as citizens must realize, we must NOT allow the event at Virginia Tech to be about Cho.
If we allow the media to continue on with these series of unfortunate events, as bad as it is, it gives Cho the opportunity to be 'famous' for what he did. By no means is this about the shooter, it is about the victims, families, students, health care workings, EMS, Police...etc.
We as the media, must approach this event as a way to focus on the victims. With stories of survival, uplifting moments, memorials etc, we must focuss on those stories.

Cho, unfortunately did not realize that by making the decision to do what he did, he would only be leaving this world hated by many.

According to sources at NBC, they claim that Cho in his video manifesto explained that by continuing with his rampage...it would allow him to be "famous"...

WE MUST NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN.

It also makes it more possible for 'copycat' shootings to occur because 'someone' may feel it is how their voice will be heard.
It is not true. We know this now...but we as citizens, must take care of each other...and look for any 'warning-signs'.
